Before characters and stories become tools for the classroom, let them first be a part of building a foundation of love for literacy with your young learners. 

The first time readers meet new characters, it should be during a read aloud. Laugh together first! Make personal connections! Then, read it again and again to take a closer look at the story, characters, and what the author whispers. When the time is right, use some of the resources below to dive deeper into one of your favorite stories.
